“How has the transition to an era of geopolitical uncertainty transformed corporate sustainability communications?”
This study is based on the hypothesis that, between 2021 and 2025, corporate sustainability communication underwent a transformation in line with and affected by a new geopolitical landscape and new regulatory requirements.
Due to the societal context in 2021, sustainability stood stronger in its own right, especially in relation to climate and biodiversity, and against a backdrop of expected regulatory expansion and changing customer demand.
By 2025, in a new geopolitical and societal context, focus has shifted towards competitiveness, navigating in an uncertain regulatory environment, strengthening of regional supply chains and strategic autonomy.
The study tests whether such a shift in framing can be observed in how companies describe their role, priorities and contributions.
